Glock (gee, who'd have thunk it?) G29 10mm subcompact in a pancake holster on the hip. A couple of 15 rnd mags filled with Gold Dots on the other hip. Pancake is pretty comfortable in the truck unlike some other holsters I've tried (box full of them).
FourOneTons-do you like the 229? I have a .40 226 and love it. I find it too big to keep in the truck so I have my Ruger LCP in the side pocket of the center console. It fits really nice in that pocket-much better than any place in my '05. Something for everyone to remember is to ALWAYS ALWAYS remember to lock your doors if you leave the gun in the truck. It is easy to think that you are at safe place or are only leaving the truck for a minute but a few seconds is all it takes for someone to steal a gun.

I love my 229, paver. Pachmayr grips to replace the factory grips (the new 229 introduced in '09 has better grips than the old ones). It's been my primary carry for about 11 years. I've got a 226 too, but because the 229 is such a sweet shooter for me, I've never carried the 226 anywhere but to the range.
Now I have to go out and look at my center console to find the side pocket I didn't know it has....
An M-4 fits nicely in the under seat storage area under the "60" side of the back seat in a crew cab and it's "lockable". Put some foam in and cut out the proper shape and voila'.
FourOneTons, I have bucket seats and there is about a 2" wide tray on either side of the console. My 226 doesn't fit very well but my LCP lays in there nicely. Personally I want to get rid of the LCP sometime soon. I find it very uncomfortable to shoot but it was a cheap gun. Sig has a new gun I want to say it is a 520??? It is nice and compact and you can change the barrel to use it as at least a 9, .40, and maybe a .45 but I am not sure about the .45. Sig is the best in my opinion. I just could not see spending $600 on a .380 when the ruger was $280-now I wish I had spent the money.
paver, if you decide to get rid of that LCP, let me know... I might be interested
I also have a 226 in .357 but I don't carry it. I use it for home defense. It stays in one of my range bags by the bed, easily accessed in the middle of the night. I just ordered a .40 barrel for it so I can afford to shoot it more at the range. It is currently my favorite pistol. great gun!
my current theory on the truck gun is that it should be cheap (in case it gets stolen) and reliable. That's why I am using the .38 special that I paid $200 for. It is extremely accurate and, with proper ammo, has plenty of stopping power. It's also a revolver, so a malfunction is extremely unlikely... to damn near impossible.
I carry my Les Baer Stinger .45 each and every day in a UBG striker holster for when there ain't time to call 911. My truck gun is an old S&W model 64 .38 special ex Police gun. "crude but effective".
An old Fobus holster ~$20
A carriage bolt - $.18
A lock nut - $.16
A fender washer = $.09
Peace of mind while I drive - PRICELESS!
Positioned the holster all the way back, drilled a hole through the console and the holster paddle and mounted with the carriage bolt. Used a piece of black material to make a cover for it and put in one of those clam shell gun safes with the steel cable wrapped around the frame up in the dash and it just fits in the map pocket in the console. Quick, easy, cheap and most importantly...effective!
I carry NAA .22 Mag in a side pocket in my carpenter jeans. A .22 mag has more stopping power than a 32 cal, load it with some hot rounds and and you are set. I have a 357 in the 5er when we go camping. I have 9 other pistols and 9 long guns in the house. I too to have a CCW.
