wet oil pan

v-10 gas 225K miles... Been smelling oil for a while now and crawled under to take a look... entire oil pan is wet with oil... its not enough to drip on my drive but it appears to be a slow seep... could it be my oil pan gasket or could a rear main cause oil to wet the entire pan? the wetness is all the way up to the block. The rear is really wet...

I am going to degrease everything this weekend and see if I can tell exactly where its coming from.

Could be the rear main - but that typically wouldn't cause the entire pan to get wet. Could be as simple as a pan gasket. Once you clean it you'll definitely be able to see it. Have you been able to track the overall loss and how fast you are losing it?

I thought mine was the pan also but ended up being the oil cooler where it meets the block right behind the power steering pump. As u drive the wind blows it everywhere!!!

Are you valve covers loose? One or both might be loose near the back, allowing the oil to seep out.

wow... there are alot of places to look now!

I don't see any oil on the valve covers... I will check the oil cooler tonight and let you know.

I have only had the truck for a few months and only driven maybe 1000 miles... oil amount not noticeable on dipstick yet but it definitely smells...
