I tried to replace brakes on the trailer last night, and thought I had allowed plenty of time, but only got one side off, and partially installed. I need to buy a brake adjustment tool to adjust the shoes on it. I kept pulling the hub off of it, but that got to be old real quick.
Its held on by 4 bolts, first three came off hot, but came off. fourth one got to the end of the bolt and then the bolt started turning. I tried to grab it with vice grips, I tried to cut it off with an air chisel, I got out a cutoff wheel and finally cut it off. I am glad the new assembly was a replacement for the old one or I might have been in some hurt, trying to repair the damage I did to the old assembly trying to get it off. I think it will be Saturday evening or Sunday before I can return on that project.
I need to get bearings done on mine or at least checked :-)
Today is work on explorer day! gotta get it ready for trip in Oct. Looks I am gong to Iowa Monday going to pick up a toy and have a great road trip
Poop accelarator position sensor crapped out-- in the super pickle-- O'Rileys could special order one for $208- :-( Got the tire repaired for 10.00 so at least that's good - gotta love unlimited lifetime mount and balance :-)
It took me 2 days, a few drill bits, & a new angled drill motor, but got it opened and tapped. The 3 heater hoses were on back order, so will drain the old fluid again and pop those in this week. Also replaced the Thermostat (must buy housing too), viscus fan clutch, 2 idlers, overflow tank, serp belt, changed the oil... Seriously thought about replacing the original alt. and ps pump (260K miles) but got lazy...
Went to back to school night last night- was ok- I like her new teacher. Came home and did some designing for rack to hold camper. wonder if I will need jack to hold truck steady?
I would guess that it should hold pretty firm considering that it is a 3/4 ton, where you will need the solid support will be on the extension that folds out. Maybe some 4x4s under the extension, with some kind of adjustable bottoms on them to have them keep tension.
