Hi, to adjust my e-brake, you guys said to do it from inside the cab by the e-brake pedal. There is a black box { what is it ?} with 2 screws holding it on in front of the entrance hole. I took the screws off the box but it doesnt want to come lose from the firewall end, is their scews or a wire plugin or something i've missed, i didnt want to pull something off that might still be attached somewhere.....Thanks
To correctly adjust the parking brake jack the rear of the vehicle up with the fronts scotched, and the e brake off. Remove the wheels, calipers, and caliper mounting bracket. Take the brake disc/drum off and adjust the star wheel that separates the pads until the drum just barely drags on the pads when you slide it on. Then put everything back on.
I adjusted the e-brakes by just jacking up the rear wheels and adjusting the starwheel tight and backing them back out 5 clicks and then turning the rear wheels to check for drag. Just like adjusting drum brakes because that is what they are.
Edit: This method does not allow you to inspect the condition of the e-brake pads like Ziggy's method.
This is the view of the e-brake assembly with the rotor pulled.
