Since the engine is out for a rebuild I'm going to replace the old heater core. It's a '78 F250 with a 400 and factory A\C but I'm removing the A\C stuff. What heater core should I put back in it, an A\C or non-A\C unit?
if its factory air you have a big box on the outer firewall. to go to non air it would leave a HUGE hole in your firewall. easiest route would be to remove evaporator and replace heater core with a factory air one reusing the big factory box. this also makes it easier if you ever decide to reinstall air
I agree; it's easiest to just keep the factory AC box in place, in which case you'd use a heater core for an AC application (which has the tubes oriented in a different fashion as Kevin explained).
