what is this relay???? it started growling at me again. iv cleaned all my connections.the motor spins over good. not slow at all. starts rite up. the pic is from when i pulled the dash piece around the radio to put my dbl din in.you can see it behind the 4x4 switch.
yea its nasty inside the dash.. i though about getting the air line out and blowing it out.. ive got the kinda luck where i would get a eye full and mess something up too...
I think it controls lights, stereo & courtesy features, like when you get out of the truck & stereo turns off & timing of lights after you leave truck. Hope Im right here. If not somebody sharper than me will help
does the growling mean its going out?? do i need to start looking for a new one??? if it stops the growling, chattering, ratteling or what ever its called ill find one

i dont think it was flooded. ive only had it about 6 or 8 months. but all of the steel pieces under the dash arent rusty.. i guess its just been down alot of dirt roads
Yeah, the trucks with a GEM have them on the backside of the fuse box under the steering wheel. IIRC, that box is called the I/P relay box and houses the 4 way flasher, turn signal flasher, trailer running lamp relay, fuel pump relay, and possibly another relay or two (I don't have my wiring diagram with me at the moment).
The chattering is likely one of the relays getting weak or getting low voltage and not staying closed.
