front axle..... help

i have been hearing something in the front for the last day or three.so this morning i jacked up the front left and see this. the u joint is rubbing the grease fitting on the ball joint....

the seal is hanging out...

when i turn the rotor it spins maybe a half turn then the axle starts to turn with it and it wobbles around so im guessing the bearing is shot. this will be my first time working on anything related to 4wd system.

what do i need for the job?
any special tools?
what parts?

The needle bearing is in the back of the unit bearing. It should pry out with little effort?

You'll need a new yellow oring and maybe a new knuckle seal if you remove the axle?

The grease fitting will hit when axle is turning even if you, rebuild everything, when in full lock left and right, i take the 90 out after greasing, and replace with plug. Also sounds like your hubs are turning all the time, from needle bearing, after you get it off, punch the bearing out from the other end through the hole, make sure it can fall out when tapping on it.

Good to know the bearings are in good shape. I started hearing a noise and 200 miles later the left front was just about locking up. BOTH bearings were shot and I serviced the 4x4 unit as well. Great write up by Guzzie.
