Nailed it! hahaha, been there done that bro! get that steady bearing out and good to go, as for the yoke, it can be stiff to pull out, just get some leverage on it and itll come out, might need to move up and down if it has a groove. if it does, replace.
I have been trying to find other articles on removing the rear yoke and came across somewhere that you have to remove rear tires and support by frame to take all weight and pressure off the rear axle. is this true?
that wasnt the case with mine and shouldnt be the case. if it has ever been taken off, it was probably siliconed on and if so it will be a bear to pull off, leverage leverage. Just dont go crazy with it.
Since you will probably have to have the new one pressed on, pressing the old one off would be my method.
Less chance of damage to anything.
I had a friend try to hammer one off of a 93 150 drive shaft.
After working on it for almost a day, he spent 20 dollars and was done in 30 minutes at the garage with a press.
yeah i cut my old one off, it was stuck as hell and i am no where near a shop. Just made a deep enough cut so as to not cut the shaft, just the bearing and the hit it with a hammer, shattered!! Machine shop from now on!
