I'm running a low pinion, open knuckle, disk brake 60f in my 76 crew cab tow rig. I have to stick with this axle as a high pinion will interfere with my Cummins oil pan, and I'm unwilling to lift it.
Through sheer stupidity I neglected bad bearings and recently damaged my factory spindles. I'm on the hunt for useable replacements, and interested in any possible replacements from other applications.
I vaguely remember some discussion about useing spindles from something else to upgrade to better lockouts. Anyone know of anything else will work?
i don't have an answer for you, but there may be one in the pirate 4x4 dana 60 bible. give it a read if you haven't already, full of info. Pirate4x4.Com - Extreme Four Wheel Drive
Thanks, the pirate site skips this axle as undesirable.
I found an E-bay seller who has some spindles, but his part number is different than mine, (I'd list the link, but I really screwed up the Oregon chapter thread by doing that, to see the link, go to the Oregon chapter buy and sell thread) his bearing part numbers however, are the same. He claims that these spindles also fit on a dana 44? I have heard that the axle shafts are the same as a dana 44 in spline count and diameter, so maybe they are just 44 spindles? Ima go to the Timken site and compare bearing pn's.
