The gear ratio has nothing to do with whether it's an LSD or not. It's the carrier that determines LSD. How did you change you gear ratio, did you have a shop do it or did you just swap the whole axle?

I swap the whole axle. I got it from an 89 bronco.
Then if you still have the old axle and it is limited slip, you can swap the carrier into your new axle. You'll have to check the backlash and mesh pattern, which you can learn how to do by searching the internet and youtube.
i wouldn't go swappin old **** in tryin 2 build a LS from 2 use rears go find a truck in the junkyard with 3.55LS and put the whole thing in or get 1 built that runs around $500 either way its gonna cost u money.... if u pc them together it will cause u a lot of trouble and u will have 2 pretty much rebuild them anyhow.... im not positive but i dont think that 3.08 rear had LS i think they were all open diffs??? if anyone knows 4 sure tell me....
Axle Code H8 is a 3.08 limited slip rear axle. The weight rating also matches the Code 18 listing so I would assume both are Ford 8.8" rear axles. Whether or not that applies to earlier or later models is another question?
If you still have the old diff look at the tag, if LS it will say 08L in the last digits, if not it will say 308, as long as you do the back lash right and the gears don't look chewed up or anything I wouldn't worry about it, in my 8.8 before 9in swap I put in a carrier from a bronco and never had a problem, I am surprised that the bronco didn't have LS
