If I want to put on LT285 75 16R's on a stock 350 Crew 7.3 do I have to level off the front for better tire clearance? Either way could I get by with a 1.5 inch using a leaf add on in the front?
I do not want to compromise anything. I had many issues in the past when I made the mistake of taking my son's advice and had my last truck lifted 6 inches! Want to keep it simple.
Thanks
So you put those tires on stock set up? No level off?
I had those Firestone Destination A/T's on my last truck and liked them much better than previous BFG's............
Got good ratings on the Tire Rack also.
I put that same size of tire on my truck but they would rub the mud flaps that i have when i would turn sharp. They would also rub if i went over a bump and was turning at the same time. I added another leaf in the front and it was all good. Looks better too and firmed up the front end to the point where i could maybe take the swaybar off. Roy.
So you just added one leaf to front? That was my plan as I did the same in 2000 on my 99' 7.3. I had no issues until I got a 6" lift! Never again. Staying close to stock as I can with limited modifications such as 4" exhaust, limited tuner more for fuel economy on freeway, new Ford ASI, level front as described, John Wood Valve body. Thats about all I will do......
You don't "need" a lift necessarily, the rubbing is very minimal, so the leveling kit is optional.
Lots of guys on here are running that size of tire, some with the kit some without.

Yep, thats all. Shock length was fine, as was everything else. It basicly leveled the front end.

no level stock rims. i had BFG's before the Firestone and these are much better ride and traction,
Sounds good. I just thought I could get new tires (Firestone Destination A/T's) LT 285 75 16R's and get the level off later.
I purchased this truck with some brand tires I never heard of OEM sizes - the tire brand is "BCT"
I dont screw around with tires and like quality rubber. Thanks
