352 vs 390 Voltage Regulator Help
I have a 65F100 I am rebuilding; part of the project is replacing the 352 with a 390. My question is....
The 352 had a voltage regulator with what appears to be a ballast resistor connected to the connector on the wiring harness. I bought a new wiring kit from Painless and the connector does not have this attached. I cannot find any reference to this and pictures in the installation manual for the kit show it plugging into the regulator with no mention of this other part.
Can I just go get a voltage regulator for a 390 and not worry about this part??

That's just for noise suppression on the old am radio. Not a neccessary part or just transfer over to new voltage regulator. Suggest getting the newer electronic regulators unless you are going for that authentic look.
That is a capacitor mounted next to the regulator and as merlynr says.. it's for radio noise supression.
Regulators are pretty much the same on Fords from the 60's thru mid 80's, so you can use your old one if it's still ok. With that said, new regulators are cheap and may be the best way to go.
