C4 to C6

The PO of my 63 F100 had swapped in a 302 and a C4, how difficult would it be to swap in a C6 instead of the C4? Any help is appreciated

I agree, why do that. If you are staying with the 302 then the C4 is the most logical choice. I'm not even sure there is a bellhousing for attaching a C6 to a small block 302. The C6 is also a bit of a power hog and I can't see that benefiting a 302. My Cougar has a built up 302 and I still have my C4 with a few mods.

C6 is available in small block pattern for I6 240/300 and 289/302/351 Windsor. They were placed behind 300s and 302s in trucks.

Keep the C4 as it has a hp rob of about 20 HP verses the C6 at 60+

The C4 can be upgraded to handle anything the C6 can.

sounds like the C4 is staying for now, my next question is what kind of gear ratio would be best with this set up? like i said it has a mild 302 and the axle is a 9in but i have no idea what ratio it has right now. The truck is used to tow a boat in the summers and runs great but is hard on gas on the freeway. at 60 im pushing about 3000 rpm

Use the below link to calculate the rear gear based on tire size.
