Anybody know if there is a tranney with over drive and atleast 4 gears that can be swapped out with a 302 or 351C?

A c-4 or c-6 has only 3 forward gears but you can put an overtrive unit on them such as the gearvenders unit. An AOD trans has 4 forward gears and will fit behind a late 65 289 to a 351w. Not shure about the cleavland, though there is a place that makes a bell housing to adapt an AOD to an FE motor so they probly will have one for a cleavland. Don't remember that name at the moment.

the 351C has the same bell and flywheel holes as the 289,302,351W so yup it'll fit that to

Thats alot more money than i was looking to spend. Would an AOD from a mid 80's pick up work with a 302/351C?

yes an aod will fit both, The one thing to check would be the converter hole spacing from early model 289 and 302 to the late model 302. More than likley thy are the some but may need to redrill your flex plate.

+2

aod should be a good choice..
but it also depends what you want it for..
for cruzer daily driver even weekend racer...aod is a good four speed..
now if your gonna be at the track quite a bit..you dont need a four speed i would go with built c4..now if you use the 351 the c-6 should be fine...

from what i have read the c4 and c6 are pretty close except the c6 was used on heavy duty trucks and i belive the withstand more torque..
