My back wiper doesn't work the best (not cleaning well) if anyone has had this problem and had it fixed could you let me know? I looked at it and there didn't seem to be anyway to adjust it.
I had the same problem. I think it has do with the shape of the rear windsheild. I didn't find the wiper at any auto parts store so i went to the dealer and it was $8 for a replacement. The replacement worked real good. FYI the wiper size is 10in.
I've got a 2003 XLT, the back wiper doesn't really have any problems [yet] on mine... it wipes pretty darn good for the most part.
On my old 2001 Explorer Sport, it had a problem, it kept skipping big parts of the window, so I took it in and they replaced the spring or something... had to take it in a few times over the years to have them fix that. I noticed a lot of other Explorers and Explorer Sports had that same exact problem.
I'm just glad I haven't had to deal with it again yet.
My wife's 03 Escape has the same problem..as with my Dad's 01 Escape. The issue is (as it looks to me anyway) is a steel shaft and an aluminum wiper housing.
Steel and aluminum don't like to party together that much, it causes a chemical reaction that likes to fill the area with corrosion. On my wifes car it was really bad. I sprayed it with lube for now, but it will be replaced before her warranty expires.
Have an '02 XLT that we love. Only minor gnatty issue with the vehicle's performance is the back wiper has never worked due to poor wiper/glass contact.
Non-performance issues include those itemized by others in other fora: (1) failure of power locks to automatically lock upon shifting into drive; (2) lockout feature for windows locks out the driver as well; (3) lack of trip computer/exterior thermometer/compass. (All of which are feaures that I feel should have been standard on an upgraded leather-clad, 6-CD changer XLT model). Otherwise, I love the car and the way it handles.

I agree with gerakamb 100% on the power locks and window lockout - some of the worst "engineering" ever. FYI, the dealer can install a remote starter that will add the auto-lock feature - for only $450. Thanks anyway.
My rear wiper works beautifully. I had a '99 Explorer Sport that would skip the entire center part of the rear window. I bent it until it worked better.
I've always hated the sound of power locks slamming when the car is shifted into drive anyway, and my Tribute has the compass/exterior thermometer autodim mirror, it was an option alone, not part of a package (It's what helps Mazda sell Tributes!), and I will not be hauling anything that requires the windows to be locked. Guess I got the nearest perfect vehicle for me. And my rear wiper works great, but I just had to buy new front wiper blades (1100 miles on the car) because the craptastic factory ones can't handle a little snow.
My Tribute does not clean the rear window well either.
My tribute has a poor cleaning problem too. I found that pivot in the arm near the motor has corroded and does not let the spring hold the wiper against the glass. I work in some good lube and work the arm in and out until it loosened up helped.
The Tributes / Escapes use an 11" wiper. The original blade insert is not replaceable so you have to get the whole blade frame. I picked up a Trico brand for about $7.00.

Reason: Typo I noticed
In reference to GERAKAMB's to him not having a trip computer on his Escape there should be one. Above the steering column that lil stick will show you the odomoter and if you push the stick it will document how long of a trip you have traveled. Hold the stick in for about 3 secs it will erase and start at 0 again. Hope this is what you were talking about
