how much does it typically cost to have that done? i don't want to pay 100 dollars on top of what ive already paid to get that done when injectors from pensecola cost 100 dollars
Heck if I know man, but I do know what you mean - mine are going in as they sit, cause they're about guaranteed to be better than the mess I got going on there now. Heck I had to think twice about getting that new pump too, but I figured if these parts bring my fuel economy back to 15 mpg then they will pay for themselves in fuel savings alone during my summer vacation...
Ever hear back from those guys yet? I got mine in the mail and at least the bodies are all different (BBs, Ds and Es). Although, I did stop into a local diesel shop (and authorized stanadyne rebuilder...) and they said they would pop test my injectors..... for FREE!!
93-95 Injection pumps are on the ebay uhaul store, i hadnt seen them for awhile, just a heads up. 93-95 IP
As for injectors, Id say either pensacoladiesel or similar. If you want to get a little more spendy, russ can make you some matched sets. typ4 is his username i believe. or type4 cant remember.
Cruickie,
all brands and letter codes can be rebuilt.
so the outer core your not to worried about.
you can see all sorts of brand names and letter codes,as they are all good for rebuilding.
everything inside is new and set to specs (supposed to be) by the builder.
you'll know all you need once the shop tells ya the news.
you can really "tweak" them to get them open really, really close, but in a few miles they wont be that close anymore anyway.
as long as they're within spec,i dunno what it is.a couple hundred psi? maybe closer.maybe they are within specs around 100 psi.you could search the web and find out.but your injection shop will tell ya if any are way off/don't meet rebuilt standards and may even go ahead and shim those that are not for ya,for a reasonable price.just ask him what he thinks and get a price for fixing any way out of wack ones if there are any.
share your results for sure.the more reports the better to see how the re-builders did.however im sure U-haul used all kinds of injector shops all around the country,so it's likely results will vary.
your doing it right,by having them checked first at least.especially since its free!
but in short,
when it comes to remans, the outer core's brand name and letter codes no longer represents the injector now.
I dropped them off today.... now I wait for a phone call!
The guy I spoke with looked at one and said that they weren't rebuild.... The part sticking out at the end of the barrel (the nozzle I think it's called) was obviously not replaced on several of them. Have to wait and see what the results are to be sure.
The silver part at the end that is in the cylinder has carbon buildup on several...
Will update as soon as I have the info!
