Disc brake conversion

I was able to sell my 2000 Ranger last week. I now have enough money from that sale, xmas and my birthday to pretty much finish the chassis except for wiring. One of my first purchases is going to be a power disc brake conversion kit, to put dics brakes on the front.

I have looked through all my catalogs and have found two that offer the complete kit. One is LMC (page 49) for $899.95. The other is Mid Fifty (page 141) for $649.00, with the remote fill kit added it is $699.00. Both appear to offer the exact same parts.

Both kits state that with a clutch you need the clutch linkage kit. LMC wants $69.95 for it and Mid Fifty wants $59.00.

I am new to all of this I haven't used either company, so I am asking for some feedback on LMC and Mid Fifty.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Mark

I prefer Mid Fifty in general. I get a better product and better service. Havent bought the discs yet though.

Both provide good products and service...that said, I trust Sy at MidFifty to stock the best model-specific parts for our trucks and they have never disappointed me with either their parts or service.

Yea and the $200 price difference is what makes me lean towards Mid Fifty

FWIW I used the kit from NO Limit Engineering and it did not need a clutch linkage kit to work on my 49 F1. I am happy with all the pieces and components, instructions leave a little to be desired but if you have rebuilt brakes before you can figure it out pretty easily or call their tech line (very helpful). I think the price was about the same as mid fifty maybe a bit more with remote res. (I used my own booster and MC and made my own remote res. so I can't remember full kit pricing). I will try to post pics soon.

I got my kit from Classic Performance Products. No issues with it, easy directions, took 2 hours and that was with the wife bugging me in the middle of it...

They are easier to make the caliper bracket for I think I read some where. I would like to see a all ford kit.

You may come out better purchasing the rotors, calipers, M/C, booster, and pads locally to save on shipping the heavy parts; I'm sure Sy from MF will tell you which ones to buy.
