I have purchased a 97 T Bird with a 4.6 I want to use it for a engine transplant.in a 74 pickup. the engine spark knocks continuous when the engine gets running tempeture no matter what octane fuel you use. I thought knock sensor but no parts store shows that it has one...any sugestions.....thanks
Charles
Sounds like either a very lean fuel mixture, clogged cats, or a timing issue. Are you getting any codes at all? Tried unhooking the battery for an hour or two to reset the pcm?

Tbirds did not use a knock sensor.
You have something seriously wrong with that engine if it's knocking like that.

if by "knocking" you mean it sounds like metal-to-metal clanking sounds, then it sounds like that engine needs a rebuild on the bottom end. If you mean "pinging", it could be as simple as routine maintenance that has been neglected, vacuum leaks, maf meter coated with dirt.
I have been real busy and haven't had time to check the codes, but it is pinging not knocking,I'll try to get the codes tomorrow,I have never heard that a dirty maf would cause it to ping either so learned something new today....

Oh, absolutely. When the maf meter is dirty, it cannot do it's very important job of reporting the actual airflow into the engine, and this is where the air:fuel ratio gets all out of whack. Quite common on "aged" cars.
Finally got the codes from the Tbird and it has a lot...

Whats good to clean the MAF with, and I know this sounds kinda dumb,I might know it by a differant name but...what is the evap solenoid and valve? I'm sure that is the correct name for it I'm just blank on that one this morning....thanks for the help.
MAF cleaner is the best and can be found at your choice of auto parts store. In most cases there is no dumb question but by some people at given times, there are dumb answers/responces. There seems to be a selected few in here that have ego issues or think they know it all and whats worst is when two or more of them get together.

There are several things that can be used to clean the MAF. I use and have always used brake cleaner. The easiest way to do it is to get a set of tamperproof bits, and remove the sensor from the housing where you can get to it easily.
