Well I was collecting parts for a while and we got the truck in the shop to get the swap completed. The upgrade consists of a hydroboost, front rotors, Thunderbird front calipers, pads, stainless hard and flex lines, rear discs.
The pedal is up and firm but it'll be spring when the snow and salt are gone before the road tests. Until then here are a few pics, something to get us through the winter months
Nice work. What's the hydroboost from? Did you also install an adjustable proportioning valve to the rear brakes? Also is that a psc pump? Who well does it work??

Hydroboost came from........I honestly don't know . I bought it off e-bay a couple years ago and it worked without a problem (how often does that work out ). The stock proportioning valve has been removed but I haven't installed an adjustable in the rear line. When I get some road tests I'll see if its needed. The PS pump is a chevy unit that March Performace puts in the billet case. It's from an old Impala. Everything bled out well and seemed to work but again the final test will be on the road in the spring.
Throwing on the adjustable proportioning valve won't be a problem if she locks up bad. The rear calipers are from a Caddy so they have the e-brake set-up, but I didn't run cables yet. Running it this year to get the kinks worked out and next fall everything gets swapped to the SWB frame I've been working on.
Nope, it's the Dana 44 but the '77 inverted Y setup was changed to the '78 style. It's a pavement pounder Street Rod and the steering is actually pretty tight (no slop) with little effort turning the 35's.
The rear brackets came with the kit, Blackbirds Custom Trucks. It came with loaded calipers, brackets and discs. The Master cylinder I had was a F350 but I couldn't get it to work, changed over to a Chevy master cylinder and it all bolted together without a problem.
Yeah, I have looked at that kit before. Are you satisfied with it? Does the bolt on caliper bracket function just as the original backing plate to hold the seal and the bearing? I have been thinking about the ruff stuff weld on brackets, but would need to make a spacer I think.
I was pleased with the kit. I did need to make spacers for the hub, normally the shoulder on the wheel studs would hold everything tight but my Strange axles have the longer studs.
I am trying to figure mine out still. I have Wilwood 120-5289 aluminum calipers on the front and would like to go with the same on the back. finding brackets that will fit these calipers has been tough, so I may have to make some which will be easy enough. Problem is, the space between the axle retainer plate, and the seal becomes a problem. I think when I order axles, strange or currie can address this, but havent gotten that far yet. Nice job though, I really like it. Especially the under hood stuff.
