Please excuse my ignorance here, but I am in need of the two 'things" that hold the back window open . They used to work, but now the window needs to be proped up. Can someone tell me what they are called and a website you would recommend to buy some? Thanks.
yep, it was designed so the ford engineers can laugh at us baseball cap wearing fools that bump their head on the hood AND tailgate cuz they are looking down at the time they round the corner !!
and for future reference, many local auto parts stores sell them too....
I have a follow up question. The supports come today (very quick delivery), but the seem to be too long. Is there a trick installing them? Does the fact I bought 2wd supports on a 4wd truck make this impossible?
Thanks.
It could be that you still have the 4WD strut still attached which is shorter and can't extend as high as the 2WD one. You may have to remove both original struts.
Be sure to have someone strong to support the rear glass when you remove them. It is really heavy and if you drop it, you could shatter your rear glass.
I recently put the 2wd struts on my 4x4, extra headroom is very nice. Piece of cake to do, just have to prop the liftgate up a little higher after you take the existing struts out.
