Question '88 302

What will happen if I put a non-egr manifold on an egr engine?

If you do not intend to use EGR, then nothing. The EGR intake manifold just routes the exhaust gas to where the throttle body and EGR plate would be mounted. You could even use one of those and plug that port. The only potential problem would be if your engine has such critical tune that the increased combustion temperature due to not having EGR causes detonation.

Your profile says you are in CA. You will not pass smog without the EGR.

Without other engine mods, you aren't going to gain much performance anyway.

Look for CARB approved headers and manifolds. Consider later model heads--they won't catch those and they won't effect the smog results anyway.

I'm smog exempt. It's pre 1975.
