If it is a simple ported hook up the EGR hose goes to the EGR port on the carb. This would be a vacuum port on the carb that provides no vacuum at idle and increases vacuum as you rev the motor similar to ported vacuum for distributor advance.
If you have a late 70's motor you may have a thermal EGR. That EGR hook up is something like this. You should find a 2 port vacuum valve screwed in somewhere on your intake manifold. The top port on this goes to a T. One branch of the T goes to the EGR vacuum port. The other branch of the T goes to a one way check valve and then on to the EGR vacuum port on your carb. The bottom port on that valve T's to the carb and the vacuum advance on your distributor. The valve only opens after the motor warms up which means no EGR and no timing advance unless the engine is warm.
If you have something into the 80's GOOD LUCK figuring it out, LOL.
