I've been having troubles with the truck recently. This time though, there's no Check Engine Light coming on.
The truck just stalls. Seems to stall more after it's been idling or low RPM for a bit. It generally stalls at low RPM and stutters at mid RPM acceleration. After it stalls, I need to step on the go pedal and turn the engine over, it will then start. Sometimes it stalls again, but most of the time is stays running. Sometimes it will run for a minute. Other times it runs for a half hour with no issue.
This new problem just started happening a couple days ago. I just got back from 12 hours of plowing snow. It stalled 30 or so times.
Here's a link to last weeks problem in case the two are related:
When it stalls, is it like a sputter or is it exactly like if you shut the key off? I had a similar problem, and I replaced the CPS, and it fixed it. Mine was as if I shut the key off.
There's plenty of information on bad CPS's here and elsewhere on the internet, so you can look around and see if they're describing what you're experiencing.

Reason: Used a period instead of a question mark.
The gas pedal does nothing at all till it's running ya know. It's not a carburetor. Did you check for fuel pressure when it is acting up? Or to make sure the fuel isn't gelled? I'd look at the filter before going anywhere else.
I still hear the clicking of the relay (I'm assuming it's #2 again. Sorry, I forgot to mention that)
I'll check the filter. Going to get some rest. Haven't really slept in the past 30 hours.
Thanks guys.
Just went to move it into the shop. It didn't want to start. I'd crank it over, it would run, then stall. I finally got it to run and pulled it around and in the bay. I figured I'd grab my camera to give you guys video/audio of what's going on. Don't you know, I can't get it to act up@!#
I have a short clip of a very small instance of what's going on. Just above 1500 RPM there is a hesitation. When it's bad, it will bounce at that RPM and "sputter" or "stutter" etc, and not want to go above it. This is my first issue with a diesel, so in comparison it's like a hard spark cut on my turbo bmw.
Just replaced the fuel filter and cleaned out the little mesh filter an inch down on the passenger side (inside the bowl). It was caked with black crud. Fired right up. See how it goes from here.
mine is doing exactly the same thing! i got done plowing went to my grandparents to snow throw their driveway left truck running in the street finished came back and truck was dead. this morning i went to start it in the driveway and the wts light flashed on and off and the relay under the hood was clicking. i finally got it going with a combo of starting fluid [i hate using!] and jump the glow relay it still shutters like its running on 5 out of 8 cyl. i got a few codes and a cel to come on 0603 and 0344 codes any ideas? the last thing i wanna play with after blowing a hydro line on plow tranny solenoids crapped out had to unplug tranny now this i will try filter and screen cleaning but why won't gpr work? please help need truck asap only vehicle i have
I'm a noob just like you it seems. I placed an order for a rebuilt IDM. Should be here Wednesday. The fuel filter didn't seem to help. Here's some audio of it happening:
Did you get any codes pulled? Really don't want to start throwing parts at it. Hope the IDM is your problem since you ordered one, but if it isn't, gotta get the codes read
0603 and 0344 were my codes I pulled internal control kam error what is that? I got like five codes total but the others I already know about my back press sensor is disconnected has been since I bought my girl. Cmp intermittent what is this! Those are my unknown codes! Am I looking at an idm too?
Big79bronco your YouTube of the audio sounds almost the same but mine won't even start right away because the glows aren't firing and they are brand new and so is my crank sensor I keep mine plugged it's the only way it will even start
Cmp intermittent, I'd be checking over the wiring leading to the cam sensor to be sure it's not chafed and causing an issue. Have you replaced your gpr since you know it is bad?
Just borrowed a friends MAC Taskmaster. Read all my old codes that I fixed without a tester. Cleared those. Ran the gamut on tests. Got a lot of clear tests. Drove around a few miles with not a single hick-up. Pulled into the garage bay to check something out..
Went under my truck and touched the CPS wires: the truck died.
