no electical power! What did I do wrong?
I've got a 97 F250 diesel. The positive battery cable terminal corroded/wore out. since a new cable costs over $100 I tried cutting out the bad terminal, had eyes put on each of the ends of the cable and put a marine terminal on the battery and attached the leads. This is on the passenger side battery so I have the cable to the other battery, the cable to the starter and a cable to the solenoid all attached to this marine terminal. The cable to the solenoid is a seperate 6 guage cable with eyes on both ends. The only other wire that I disconnected in this process comes off the other side of the selonoid. I dropped the negative terminal during this process and it shorted on the positive terminal for a very short duration. When I hooked this whole contraption up I don't have any power to the system at all. Both batteries are good and I show power as far as the solenoid but nothing else. I checked the fuses under the hood and in the cab and nothing looks blown. What have I screwed up?

There is a main fuse thats probably blown under the hood, often reads something like alternator or main or something. Its fairly large and isnt a atc type fuse but one of them big ones listed like 80amps or similar. If you have no power at all it could be blown. I doubt you shorted out the batteries just by touching it for a sec.
