1996 Explorer 6 CD Changer
I have 1996 Eddie Bauer EXPl. with the 6 CD sound system.
Here's the problem. My FM does not work.... Well actually if you turn the volume WAY up you can just about hear it.
When I search for stations the system finds the local stations.
My CD audio works great.
MY AM works great too.
My cassette work great too.
I was thinking that perhaps the antenna might be the culprit, but I am having trouble figuring out the wiring since I do not have a diagram. I don't see the old coax cable that I am used to when I used to work on radios as a teen.
Any Suggestions on what to look at?
Rick
Things are alot different from when we were teens. The radio head unit (mounted in the dash) is really nothing more than a tape player and display unit with buttons. All of the tuning and amplification is being done by a unit under the passenger rear quarter. Under the quarter trim is the subwoofer, subwoofer amp, and main amplifier. The main amplifier is the brains of the whole system. Sounds like something within its FM Tuner section is loose or bad. I replaced mine with one from radiosandmore.com . These folks know Ford audio and were quite helpful.
