Question about hydrolock
Question about hydrolock
Ok, so ever since I've been battling this engine miss problem which I currently believe it to be due to a bad injector, I'm trying to eliminate all other possibilities that could be causing this problem.
Last summer when I had replaced injector #8 with a reman AB splitshot, I had just put the reman in and had everything back together. When I first cranked it over there was slight rotation until the engine rotation stopped suddenly. I didn't get all of the oil out of cylinder 8. I tried to give the starter a slight bump to confirm what just happened and the same result happened. This was obviously hydrolock. I pulled the injector out, got the oil out and it was resolved that time.
My question is could that event likely cause damage to my engine?
Thanks in advanced for anyone's expert opinion.

Yep, they're split shots. I wish they were single shots. I guess in the end I'm happy they're split shots since that gives me an excuse to upgrade to stage 2 single shots! Of course that will require a lot more upgrades than just injectors.
If the engine fired up you will be ok if you didn't start it yet I would put a wrench on crank pulley and turn engine by hand and make sure everything is smooth. Tip for next time. Put injectors in then pull out glow plugs and put valve covers on with a few bolts hand tight and unplug cps and bump starter. The compression will shoot oil out of cylinders through glow plug holes. Make sure cps is unplugged though or take out the fuse for the pcm so the injectors don't fire.

Yes, I was able to start the engine but is there any chance for any kind of damage from what I described?
You're fine. Yes it could have bent a rod but if it did the engine wouldn't run it would lock up solid

Could a bent rod be slight enough to allow it to still run, but produce an engine miss? Would it also be more likely that a valve pushrod or valve got bent in #8 cylinder?
you can pull the valve cover to see if a push rod got bent but I dout it. Next time before you assemble thing turn it over. You can set your DP Tuner to no start to for this. Just suck out as much as possible first. If its missing did you check you harness and all?
