interchanging 7.3 powerstroke blocks

Can a 2001 7.3 block be changed out with a 95 powerstroke block and use all 2001 engine componants and parts? what about crank, rods and pistons.

Yes and no, the block and heads will work but you will need to put your front cover, HPOP, manifolds and accessories on.

I was reading that you cannot use a 2001 crank in a 95 block because of the balancing holes drilled out of the crank. The injectors are smaller in the 95 with a 8 bolt intake pattern on heads and a 10 on 96 and newer heads. I wanted to make sure on the block and what crank, rods and piston to use when i swap blocks. The 2001 had a rod go through the block thats the engine im trying to repair. I was planning on using all 2001 accessories and heads. I know that the 94-97 rods were stronger then the 99-03, same length?

Just take the intake plenums, hpop, front cover and accesories, injectors, wiring harness and uvch, exhaust headers, uppipes, and turbo pedistal, fuel feed and return lines and fuel bowl off of the 2001 and onto the 95 motor.

Dont bother taking the heads or oilpan off the 95 motor and trying to swap rods or pistons or anything. Unless you just want to replace the piston rings and rod bearings.
The 95 motor will have forged rods, which are stronger than the powdered metal rods that were used in the 7.3s starting sometime in 2001 and on. Both the pmr rods and forged are the same length, the only difference is that the rod bearings are just a tad different, both use the same crank and same wrist pins.

The injectors in the 2001 will drop right into the 95 head no problem.

And if that motor windowed the block, I dang sure wouldn't be using that crank anyways. So just use the 95 crank.
