I just discovered that if I leave my DIY high idle mod switch in the on position that it won't crank. I don't even get a click. I know I hooked it all up right and it works great.
Maybe it's screwing up the IVS signal that it wants to start?
Unlikely. AFAIK, the starter circuit doesn't go through the PCM at all. You must have involved the starter circuit wiring in your mod somehow, if this is what's happening.
would the truck still run if it was push started in second gear?
Yes. Those wires are only for the starter circuit, which is purely electromechanical, and separate from the engine electronics. As said, if you want to interrupt the engine running, you'd have to use the wiring to the CPS or some such.
Here's a "poor man's cripple mode" idea - put a switch in series with the idle switch on the go-pedal (or just pull fuse #3 in the dash fuse panel). AFAIK, this makes the PCM think you're always at idle, and even if the thief could push-start it, when he goes to squeeze the go-pedal, it won't rev up. Makes for a very slow getaway.
Security sticker idea: Icons of a front view of a video camera and a Glock 9, caption below says "Which one's pointed at you?".
well i just finished with the clutch wiring switch.i splice into the second wire from the firewall which is a white with a pink stripe.i use an old on/off switch which i found a good ,hard to find spot, there is s lot of room under the dash, different places to put a switch.then used some black convoluted tubing and black electrical tape and it looks like factory wiring.
i know is not as efficient as a Glock but its cheap and easy to do in 1/2 hour.
