i have a 1989 F150 4x4 with a straight six or 4.9L the timing gear went out i have it dow to where i can see the timing gear. what is the easiest way to get it off without hurting anything else on the motor it looks like it is pressed on there. this is my first time haveing to do this and i am stuck any help will be of great help thanks.

u will have a bolt that holds on the top gear unscrew that .. just use a long screw driver or pry bar and wedge it in between the motor and the gear set and give it a good smack with your hammer ,hand, or another tool ... just make sure your engine is at TDC before puting on the new one , also u might want to use preassubley lube on the gears i do just becuase i am Ocd .. lol we will be waiting gl.. !
i was first confused about it because that it didnt have a timing chain it was just two meshed gears and when i took the cover off and seen the gear there is no bolt it looks like it is just pressed on to the cam shaft and i dont want to hurt the the cam shaft (i think that is what it is connected to}
