BFG 33x10.50's?

Hi there!
I'm not quite ready for new tires, but thinking about these when I do -- in the Mud Terrain variety. Basically, I have a 90 F150 4x4. Supposed to have 3/4 ton springs in the back, which it may, and some type of leveling kit in the front, which I'm sure it does. Sits up a couple inches higher than the average F150 I see around.

Anyway, currently running 31x10.50's on 8" wide rims and they seem alright, maybe a little small (becasue of increased truck height?). I've been keeping my eyes open, and I know a little about tire sizes and such, and BFG seems the only company to make tires in this size. I find it strange, since it seems like it would be a great size. I wouldn't worry about running them on 8" rims, plus I don't think they're wide enough to rub on everything under the truck -- which it seems like going to an 11.50 or wider seems to do.

So, the real questions are: Is my thinking right? Anyone have experience with these size tires? Any opinions at all?

Thanks!

Yes, you would probably avoid rubbing that occurs w/wider tires, it would help fill up your wheel wells. I have had several sets of BFG T/A's, they are great tires. I did a search at Tire Rack and that was the only tire they carried in the size you want.

Thanks for the positive reinforcement, but I was hoping somehwere along the way someone else had run this size and could tell me how perfect they would be.

I am running 33x10.5 BFGs. Not Mud Terrain, but All Terrain. I also have a 3" body lift on my truck. Check the gallery. You should be okay with what you have. It may rub on the pitman arm, but that won't hurt anything.

Thanks, from the pics it looks like my truck is very close in height to yours, maybe shorter by just an inch or and inch and a half. The tires look really good, look like just the right size to me. I think when the time comes, I'm going to go for it.

Do you have any more pictures -- that's a really nice setup!

I don't have any newer pictures. Hopefully soon it will be warm enough to stay outside for more than 2 minutes without freezing to death.

Superswamper also has a 33x10.5 thornbird, I've had 33x11.5 thornbirds on my bronco for the last 25,000 miles and they are still over 1/2 tread!!!! At there current rate of wear they should outlast the 33x12.5 BFG AT's I had on it (which went 40,000 miles)
