I'm putting the heat back together in my f150 and I'm wondering if I really need the vacuum actuated valve that is in the heater hose between the motor and heater core. I would assume that it is a shut off valve preventing coolant from going through the heater core when the heat is not on but do I really need it? Thanks

You have factory A/C, otherwise your truck would not have the valve.

This valve is a POS, and has been since day one. Fits myriad 1967/91 Passenger Cars/F100/350's / 1975/91 Econolines & 1978/91 Bronco's. Is notorious for getting stuck open/closed or partially open/closed.
