Anyone know how to test the heater bypass valve on a 95' Explorer?
The heating and AC are working properly, however I notice the hoses that lead to the heater core from the bypass valve are alway hot. The bypass valve picks up hot water from the intake manifold coolant jacket and delivers the return to the water pump. I'm assuming that the hot water should bypass the heater core when not using the heat setting. Is this correct?
The bypass valve's vacuum diaphram funtions with the temperature control panel settings, so it appears to be working. My 92' Explorer does not have this underhood bypass valve, so I assume the heater core always runs hot.
I have two manuals, but they don't cover this valve. Thanks!
