For the engine I'm rebuilding we really need to go on a budget if possible. I was wondering if I should reseal the original HPOP that was working fine but leaking like crazy or replace it. I can fix anything hydraulic but only when I can get the parts so......
I'm having the injectors rebuilt to stage 1 and need to get everything right before I swap the motors out. Do they need more oil? I'm not a speed freak. I prefer actually getting where I'm going to getting there fast or breaking down.
I'm also spending some bucks on a gear vendors overdrive unit. That thing should really save me some money in the coming years as fuel prices go up.
While I have this motor out I'm also rebuilding the alternator, starter and power steering pump. I hate just replacing stuff. We'll see how much money it all saves me over buying all new. I'm getting the motorcraft rebuild kit from rifraff.
Yeah you send him a pump and he modifies it for more flow. Would be a perfect match with stage ones and your tow tunes. I think you need to find a 17° used pump but plenty are around for cheap
Yep, you're going to need at least a 17 stock if you get stage ones. Your stocker won't keep up for sure towing and hauling like you do. I ran them both in the process of getting done with my mods and the stocker eliminated the cel I was getting towing but when I put the modded one on it ran even better. I set a cel easy when towing with the stocker. Send joey an email, he'll tell you the costs if you want to go that way.
on edit: Jim told me there is no way a stock 15 can keep up with the injector/chip combo. What he said is the stock 17 is about maxed out with a chip and stage ones.
That one seems to be over 2000 dollars on his site. Is the adrenaline just as good? It's around 500. My wife will blow a gasket if I tell her I need 2k for one part....
That 2000 you speak of is for dual pumps. You can get a new Bosch modded 17 deg for around 600 bucks. There is alot of debate on the options of pumps available out there. Check out this thread and you'll see what I'm talking about! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s....php?t=1028357
It won't run them fine pulling. Ask Jim, and ask me, I tried it. Ya, it works fine without a big load on, but look at what he hauls and pulls. It won't by any means fully supply the injectors and will more than likely set a cel like mine under a big load. Just the way it is.
He may not be pulling a 48 footer but he does haul heavy loads of hay, camper on the back and a horse trailer. With the way mine acted, I wouldn't want to send him on a big road trip for the first time and get part way and problems occur that could have been prevented. I sure don't want to spend his money, as I know how tight it is. I just don't think it will provide enough oil when his camper and horsetrailer are in tow. I guess he could try it and change it later if need be but in my experience and what I was told by Jim I wouldn't.
