Not just the "pop" but also the gap in the springs. Is there still a gap in just one side of your springs?

OK guys, sorry i have been busy plowing my *** off. (in 2wd) because it is still doing it. I think GW1969 might be on track with my problem. I can wiggle the front driveshaft up and down about a half inch where it mounts to the axle. Something is wrong in the axle, it is also leaking fluid out of where the driveshaft mounts. I dont know anything about axles.

I will get some pics of the leaf springs as soon as i can. Right now i have to go to bed, getting another 12" of snow tonight. I will need 2 new tires by the time i am done plowing in 2wd!

edit: also my front drive shaft u joint is shot now

indeed sounds like a problem in the front diff or axle.

Your descriptions are so vague it's hard to tell what may be wrong with front differential or drive shaft, but if your hubs were unlocked as per your original post the drive shaft/diff would be a non issue for the bouncing as it should not be turning.
If the 1/2" movement in the drive shaft is in front of the yoke you at the least have a pinion bearing gone south and should have some noise in the front while in 4WD

I'm not a mechanic so i really don't know how to be much clearer.

The truck didnt come out of 4x4 when i unlocked the hubs. I am thinking when i backed out of my driveway the next morning is when it came out. It sticks when there is a bad ujoint and i have to go in reverse and then forward to get it to come out sometimes.
