2011 Brake upgrades...

I already know im going to put the stainless lines.

Is there any high performance pads and rotors out there yet? Or maybe some 6 or 8 piston front brake calipers.

See if you can get police interceptor grade calipers.

The ones that are silicon rubber seals vs. EPDM.

Far better heat resistance.

Do you know if they have a rebuild kit for my stockers to put the better seals?

whats wrong with your brakes anyway? soft, spongey, weak? and i dont think they fixed this yet because i've found this thread on the 97-03 f-150 section, the 04 and newer f-150 section and in the diesel section, so i dont think ford fixed the simple five minute adjustment yet.

I just want more stopping power. The mass of the truck overpowers the stock brakes as it is.

You are really talking serious upgrades!

That means new discs that are much bigger and heavier.

Plus matching calipers to go with it.

You are talking real serious conversion work.

Need an expert that knows what fits what.

If you are not willing to change wheels, (max diameter inside) less reasonable clearance (IDK, not that pro) is as much as you can go.

But the rotors can be much thicker, and the calipers beefier.

Then there is matching pads / material to the rotors.

Check out who has a kit to do the whole thing for you.

A great kit with things like cyrotreated rotors --- big difference.

Yea, I know its alot of work. Im hoping to find somebody with an adapter bracket to mount bigger on what I got. I dont mind the little bit of extra weight im going to gain.

Also I have the KR 20's so I would think they would have enough clearance

again r the brakes soft then? meaning you have to press them down far for the truck to stop? if so do like i said before and turn the adjuster bolt out one turn and you'll see how much better the brakes will get.

You could probably get pads that are more mettalic from someplace like napa and that would be a quick cheap improvement but it will eat up the rotors faster. I tried it on my '08 and it grabbed better but I got a little shimmy in the steering wheel from the stock dampener not being heavy enough so I put the stock ones back on. I have since found a better steering dampener but I haven't tried the mettalic pads with it yet.

Unless you are hauling/towing really heavy loads, I can't imagine that the OEM brakes are not sufficient. However, if you have the $$$ to spend, here is a thread with aftermarket options.

Is it possible to swap in F450 or F550 parts without a lot of work?

I wonder if you're experiencing what I call the vacuum-boosted brake problem?

Vacuum boosted brakes always felt soft and mushy to me. WAAAAY too much pedal travel to get the things to work; in a game where fractions of a second count, the half-second spent sucking up the "slack" in a vacuum booster means that it feels like it's not stopping as fast.

Hydroboosted brakes feel much more firm to me, and "work" much better. I can stand my 2007 on it's nose; it easily stops shorter than the 1/2-ton chevy that it replaced, at nearly twice the weight. Indeed, I can nearly take my own head off with the seatbelt in the Ford in a power-stop. Can you say, "arrestor hook"?

(I'm a bit biased because I'm used to air brakes; their feedback is much closer to a hydroboost system than a vacuum system.)

(this is one of the reasons why I'm so "cool" on the new '11's, even with the outstanding 6.7 engine: no hydroboost in the 250's.)

The foundation brake system, I can't IMAGINE it not being "big" enough to stop that thing.

Since you're still well within warranty, you might take it to the dealer and see if they'll bleed the brakes again... It's possible that they didn't get all the air out during final assembly.

It should be free, so all you lose is downtime.
