NEED HELP
does anyone know what relays are in the back of the explorer by the jack? there is a space for 6 relays but only 5 are there. i can not get my battery to stay charged and i heard one of these relays ticking, and one under my steering wheel also. well i pulled the one in the rear out and the ticking stopped all together. does that mean i have a ground somewhere or alternator bad maybe??? was there not enough juice to pump the relay so it ticked???

It is a 1997, and i have no clue if it has ride height control. i put new terminals on today and charged the battery ... hooked it back up and the battery light was on within minutes...what would be the easiest way to check if my alternator is bad?

The quickest way to get an idea if the alternator is bad would be to put a multimeter on the battery cables and check how much voltage the alternator is supplying with the engine idling, with the engine running around 2000 rpms, and with a load on the charging system (turn headlights on and blower motor to full speed). If you never see less than 13.5 Vdc through all those scenarios, or more than 14.4V, your alternator is probably doing its job.
The next step would be to use the ACV setting of your multimeter (or if you have access to one, an oscilloscope) and check for any significant AC component from the charging system.
