I have a very annoying ticking or clicking in the dash of my 03 SD CC. I am assuming that it is some kind of a relay. When it starts clicking and I press down on the brake pedal it stops, but as soon as I let off the pedal it begins again. Any takers on what this relay controls or if it is a serious problem that I need to get to the dealer right away and get fixed.
It does it going down the road or at idle. It is a V10. Best I can tell there is a little box located behind the little dash knook below the A/C contols. That seems to be where the noise is coming from. You can feel the box viberate, but I can not figure out what that box does or what is in it. Like I said if it is clicking and you press the brake it stops, but will start again when you let off the brake. It does not do it all the time about 50/50. I just want to make sure if I can to see if I need to get it out to the dealer ASAP or if it is something silly like a dash light control or something like that. Any help you guys can provide would be great.
I had a 02 CC that did the same thing mine would only do it once in a while. I too could push on the brake pedal and it would stop. I have turned my lease in and got another truck so I never did have it fixed or find out what it was. It did this for more then a year so I do not think its something major
I think I got most of it, and so far I have not seen any real damage aside from this buzzing under the dash, which does seem to be going away. "knock on wood"
Oh and also, I did a more extensive search of the forum on this.
I found that some people fixed this problem by replacing the relay that is behind the stereo or by replacing the multi-function switch, which I believe is the turn signal/wiper assembly.
