relay chattering
i have a 2004 F250 and under the dash right around where the relay is that goes to the signal lights the one that ticks when the flashers and blinkers are on the sound is like a stuttering tick or a real fast tick coming from under the dash right where that flasher is it does this alot and i was wondering what relays are in that same location with the flashers and how can i trace this down i do not know if i have a necked wire touching somewhere and making this relay act up or if the relay is going bad or what any help would be appreciated i try to do my own work on my vehicles and i have to think this web site for a lot of do it yourself valuable info

i have the exact same problem with a 04 350. The relay (if that what it is) intermittently chatters until i hit the brakes or the turn signals and this quiets it. All systems are working well otherwise. Batteries are good, connections are good. I've pulled the relay box out some and dont see any markings or id numbers on it at all. I would sure like to find out the cause as well.

flasher relay chattering
i finally figured it out.
the chattering flasher relay was a symptom of a bad multifunction switch throwing an intermittent ground. Replaced the multifunction switch and the problem is resolved.

malfunction switch
what is a malfunction switch and where is it located what does it do and how do you get to it and take it off what is the cost and how hard is this switch to change out
