Like many are saying, if you choose the proper rated diesel oil, your 7.3 will do fine. My 7.3 likes the Delo 15w40. You can't go wrong with Rotella 5w40/15w40, Delvac and Valvoline to name a few.
Looks like you have to much money, I can help you out with that problem.
I have a 68 notchback that has been sitting in the garage for about 8 years now waiting for me to do something with it. I picked it up from a guy in town that originally got it from vegas so it is fairly clean and strait. It has/had a vinyl top that I assume was replaced at some point. When I pull it off there was a flower and what looks like a dove and some what I believe is 60's early 70's writing in spray paint on the roof.
In the time that I owned the car I had went from plans of a 460 (which I bought and also has been sitting around) to getting a wrecked 03+ cobra and swapping over the drivetrain and some of the interior to the 68. But then I think it would be easier to get a older wrecked lightning and swapping that drivetrain over because the 351 should bolt in pretty easily. I haven't started work on it yet because I know once I start it won't get done for quite some time and can cost me all kinds of money.
Very nice 68? you have there! You didn't happen to come up to wisconsin 5-6 years ago and buy a 65 did you? A few guys came up and bought my 65 that I was restoring. All of them had older stangs and we ended up talking and looking at pictures and cars pretty much all day long.
You should work on your 68 man. Its fun to do. I don't really have a project now so i am going to take over on my dad's drag car.
My 68 Fastback has a 460 in it that i bored and stroked to 532. Its super scary fast.
Nah i haven't been to Wisconsin
NEVER add any additives to the engine oil!!!!! the Delo 15w40 is a good dino oil if you can't go the synthetic Rotella right now.
Just stay away from FRAM filters unless its an emergency!!
No matter how many times I tell my dad I keep seeing Frams on his truck...
70+ oil changes with Delo and WIX/NAPA. It's not cold enough here to need anything to combat the romps.
i have changed my oil every 3000 mi from 7 to 257000 with reg oil mostly rotilla it turned black and waterery at 1500 mi. i just switched to syn 5/40 starts better no leaks and checked it this afternoon it still looks new at 3500 mi. im i believer from now on! i think oil is the key to long life motors maintance maintance maintance .
