Hey im thinking about buying a 460 out of a friends 88 f250.. it has roughly 150K miles and he is offering it to me for 350 dollars. Is this a decent price?
yeah it runs strong, havent done a comp test and its being pulled because he just doesnt ues the truck and i asked him about the engine and he said i could buy it if i wanted.
well lowball his ***. haha. tranny? wiring harness? are you swapping it or will it be a replacement for your truck?
ide say 350 is steep if its just the motor.
your gonna rebuild it soon unless its been well taken care of. even if you run the chance.
i run a comp test and work with him more. anyone else have sum input? neewb here
it will be a replacement in my truck.. not getting the tranny. I figured 350 would be an alright price but obviously ill try to go as low as i can lol.

What's the base info on your truck? (Trans, year, etc)
no it is not and i was ploanning on taking it apart and putting new main and rod bearings in and new piston rings and new gaskets.
Well you're in for a LOT of work.
It won't fit your transmission anyhow, but you will also need to get the engine perches from his crossmember, the entire engine bay wiring harness, Airbox and intake hoses, Engine management computer, radiator, etc....
1973 460 was the last year with decent heads, obviously a 1970 motor would be ideal. I like the old ones for a swap, NO Compters, GAS, Fire and Compression is all you need.
well yeah i figured i was going to need all of that stuff, Im planning on tearing the engine down completely and replacing the bearings since it has a decent amount of miles on it.
