I bought a used 95 F150 with the 4.9. I really am not familiar with Fords and have a few issues. The spedometer and odometer do not work, there is no spedo cable. and now after hitting a bump, my fuel guages has stopped working. I have two tanks and two sending units that both worked before the bump so I cant see it being that. Any advice?
Sounds like it is time to have a look behind the instrument cluster. The connectors to the gauges are on 3 wiring harnesses. You may find that one of the clips that holds the harness in has broken and now the contact with the gauge is intermittent or separated entirely.
ya man I don't think ya have a big problem, sounds like just a loose connector or possibly a hole in the wire coating, and it grounded out. I have a 77 f250 that does that kinda crap sometimes I have yet to find where it is exactly coming from but I don't drive it much anyway
Missing the speed cable ? Go digital. Just a couple of wires to run up to the front. Of course that means messin with the stock look at the dash, but a custom gauge panel fixes all that, and then add some more digital stuff. There are tachs out there that are only 2 1/4" O.D. at the gauge face.
