There's a look-out like that where we hunt that's around 8,000 feet where you can look into Idaho. You really feel like you are on top of the world.
I often wonder how many Indians and explorers climbed up there just too take a look around and stood in the exact same spot over the centuries. It's kinda' awe inspiring.
Here is a couple of me taking the boat out for a test run on the Klamath River. I spent 4 years totally rebuilding everything on this boat. It's a 1968 Evinrude Sportsman 155 I/O with a v6 231. She can tow 3 skiers at once or fish all day long... does both equally well
Another Eagle here, with 2 treks & 4 summers on staff at Philmont.

I don't know how many years its been since you were at P-mont, but that's some seriously old information. There were 40 odd itineraries when I worked there in 98-01. They ranged between 30-90 miles, and criss-crossed the ranch & the Valle Vidal National Park. The ranch itself is ~125K acres in the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rockies, and is a working cattle & buffalo ranch, and has the largest semi-tame population of mini bears known to man.
One of the highlights our trek was at Cimarroncito when we were buzzed by two B1 bombers. You could see them waving! I was also there in 1993 and hope to return soon. Kudos to all Eagles!
Hey, Rick! Didn't I see you on Tradbow or Primitive Archer with that snakeskin longbow?
