Need some advice

Heres the deal, my 06 F250 6.0 PSD with no mod's is throwing me for a loop. No CEL, but when i get up to high way speed 50-65 MPH the seems to be a shudder or vibration coming for under the truck. Almost like i am going over a real bumpy road. If i hit the accel. or let up it goes away the problem seems to be about the 1500-2000 RPM range. Truck starts good and idles great. I replaced the fuel filters thinkg maybe they were clogged, no help. I am not mech. by any mean just simple jobs are for me. Just wondering what my problem maybe, any help or advice would be appriciated. about to turn 80,000 mile on the truck BTW.

Several items to check with those basic symptoms (in no particular order):
  • Visually inspect tires...inside, outside, and all the way around (tire defect/damage)
  • Check for excessive play in front & rear drive shaft(s) (U-joints & carrier bearing)
  • Have tires checked for balance (thrown weight)
  • Have drive shaft(s) checked for balance (thrown weight)

My friend has this problem with an escape. We assumed it was the transmission and haven't messed with it for a few years. It feels like the rumble strips like you said. It only does it going 42 mph. Now you can hear gears grinding from time to time. Took it to my uncle who owns a trans shop and he says just let it go because it is not worth rebuilding. Probably worth rebuilding in your case if thats what the issue is with yours.

Thanks, A buddy of mine suggested it maybe the tourque converter or possible the fuel pump. I have read alot about misfires as well, i think i would be able to rule that out though since the truck idles so well. I know usually when fuel pump go they just go. I have heard the if it is the TC that if you drive with the OD of the problem will go away, so i am going to try that on the way home from work to see if it produces any change.

Any other help from anyone would be appriciated.

Thanks

I had a similar situation in a '70s model ford... had a King Pin going bad, truck rocked and rolled at certain speeds or if I hit a bump, but was fine otherwise.

I'd be looking at the front end... alignment, tie rods, King Pins etc. if it has them. Tire wear will tell you a story too.
