oil pressure

just bought a 01 expedition just recently the oil pressure light comes on and the gauge goes to nothing, are the sensors in the 5.4 known to fail or is there an issue with the oil pumps?

Common issue or not is irrelevant, the sensor is 10 years old and quite easily could've failed.

If the oil pump had failed, you would already know

Mine does the same thing, not a big deal, as long as you don't start to hear knocking from the engine your fine.
