I had only two times where "ol stinky" struggled just a bit to start, but it was coooollld. Otherwise I flip the key on, light comes on... light goes off, turn the key and throttle down vrroom she fires right up. Haven't plugged her in yet this year. I love my IDI, she never lets me down!
I can attest to the topic, snowing pretty good up here. New set of tires, new warn hubs, new front brakes, and HID's. Truck handles like a dream, blew past new dodges, sports cars, suv's, two cops. Going the speed limit...
Yep, got an extra here that I can let go when you need it with the big letters. I actually have two, you could take your pick. (I may need one of them down the road, not sure if the one truck is getting another box, or a flatbed when it's done.) The Lariat trim is just that, the gate was pooched, but I saved the trim off it.
I say dependable and tough I went to buy a 84 250 with a 6.9 for parts the guy left the air cleaner bolt out. sitting outside it came a big storm three nights in a row. water ran down the windshield puddled on the air cleaner, it filled the motor completely full of rain water. THE INTAKE WAS FULL OF WATER. He said it had been running 3 months ago. I hit the key with jumper cables and it was hydro locked tight. so pulled all the gps out and easily turned the motor over with the starter. the water shot 15 feet in the air. got it all out. put the gps back . turned the key, wts light out. fired right up. ran like a champ. bought the truck 500 bucks. still running today.
I hydrolocked my first motor at 650k. I stopped giving it any love at 475k.it had low oil pressure, so I stopped changing the oil and stopped adding SCA's. it made it that far with pure neglect. the second motor is ready to be changed out, it's got a fair amount of blow-by now and the draconian smog laws got set back two years. therefore the truck is getting re-powered this spring..
anyone who tells you these motors need to be babied is F.O.S.
those who have read towcats posts know, that he doesn't drive trucks like cars.he works 'em and works 'em hard!making this so much more impressive.
try doing that with a 460.
