hypertech maxenergy

All I just bought a usd hypertech programmer #42002 this says it is for 03' to 05' 6.0L. My truck is an 07' but I didn't think there were any changes from 05'to 07' motors. Any way I call Hypertech to see if the unit could be up graded online, they said it could not but I could sent them this unit and $200.00 and they would send me the right one. ( if I wanted to spend $400.00+ I would buy a new SCT).

On to my question has anyone used this programmer on a different truck? Or will I Fup my truck?

Typically tuners should work for all years of a particular engine. It's not like custom tuning where there might be different strategies that apply to different model years even of the same engine.

All that really should have to be done is a firmware update to allow 07 VINs and strageties that might be different for the 07s vs. earlier years.

Now having said that, there might be something different with that particular line of Hypertech that might indeed cause problems with your truck. They might do things differently then the other tuners that I've deal with.

If they have an online update firmware page, check there and see if you can do it even though the person you talked to said you couldn't. Look at the revisions file and see what revisions it has in there and see if it was revised to accomodate for 06 and 07 6.0s. There is a chance that the person you talked to didn't know any better and is just following a script. May not be the case, but it doesn't hurt or cost to look for yourself.

EDIT: I just took a look at their website, doesn't look like they give you much in the way of info about the updates, if any at all. That might very well be the case with their tuners.
