Let's start with I have seen the Light! Just sold my 03 Dodge 3500 Diesel(and the payment that goes with it) and am going to pick up my new toy Saturday. 95 F150 ext. cab flareside 4x4. it has the typical Ford rust on the bottom of the front fenders and at the bottom of the ext cab. No worries as I have brothet-in-law that owns a Body Shop and restores Mustangs. My main Questions are, What are some of the common problems with these trucks? BTW has 351W and the XLT trim.
I too, want to lift it from the stock level it is now. What lift kits are best? ones that can be DIY? Where is the best source for Accesories for these trucks? Just too many questions swimming thru my tiny brain right at the moment!
Lift kit - I would say Superlift, Rancho or Skyjacker. I have a BDS kit on my silver truck and would not recommend it due to cheaper made parts, and poor fitment. On my mud truck I have a Rough Country kit, and although its parts are very heavy duty and i have been very happy with the kit, i also would not recommend it for a daily driven vehicle. The truck rides like a friggin tank, way rougher than youd want everyday.
As far as problems go, the exhaust manifolds like to crack, and alot of people have the condition when they park in reverse, the front tires look all out of whack. this is caused by the main ttb pivot bushings being worn out. Other than that these trucks are pretty freakin tough.
