Hi All! Just trying to get a little bit of info if possible on an issue that my truck has been developing over the last few weeks. The truck has an odd winding up or moaning noise upon acceleration in my '05 F-350 diesel. The truck still accelerates perfectly fine and shifts fine as well. It used to only make the noise on turns, but has graduated to the point where the noise happens all the time now. It hasnt affected anything functional on the truck yet that I can tell, but the noise is getting louder and happening more frequently now to the point that Im a little concerned. Anybody know what Im talking about?
Well, it could be the power steering pump, steering gear box, serpentine belt, or an odd component of the suspension, but I would start with the PS pump. I know mine makes an odd moaning noise when starting on a cold day, but it only lasts 15-20 seconds.
come to mention it, Im not even sure if the truck does it once the truck has been driven and warmed up a bunch. I only drive it to and from work maybe a totlal of 30 minutes all day. I'll have to drive it around a while Saturday and see if it still happens once the truck is warm and has been running a bit. But I have not checked my PS fluid level. If I do that, am I able to safely add fluid, or is best left to a shop?
A bit yeah! In Dallas. I think we'll hit the 60s today. BUT I'll be right there with you next year though. My fiancee and I will be moving to Milwaukee (or somewhere close to there) early next year!
well it looks like the fluid that I was leaking was actually brake fluid? When I corner and apply the brakes sometimes now, the the pedal kind of shudders and doesnt want to go down all the way. Is this common at all? What kind of troubleshooting should I start with ?
Ugh. No, wrong again. I am leaking /s fluid and now the power steering is gone on the truck. The system was leaking the fluid like crazy before it finally went out. It seems like the power brakes arent functioning correctly either. Any help please?
