Hi All,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o> </o> A buddy of mine turned me onto this site today rockauto.com I briefly looked through it and must say I am pretty impressed. Motorcraft Diesel parts as well as other brands. Wondered if anyone has an opinion about this? I also like the drill down navigating through the site seems pretty easy.<o></o> <o></o> Also was interested in comments on Dorman Parts. I am looking at buying UVC wiring for mine due to opens and burnt connectors with my wiring and found some on this site. The Dorman brand has valve cover gasket, UVC wiring and the female ends for the outside connector for $48 bucks which seems like a good price unless I am buying junk?<o></o> <o></o> Thoughts???<o></o> <o></o> Thanks everyone…<o></o> <o></o> Mike<o></o>
I buy alot of parts from rock auto you can't beat their prices. Even reutrns are no hassle.I don't know about doorman gaskets but your stock ones are reusable but if you are changing glow plugs make sure you stick with motorcraft
I've got a doorman vacume pump, not a rebuilt unit and seems to be working fine.
My expeareance with doorman parts have been good at work too. No come backs and are suppling those odd dealer item parts or change up parts to improve durability ex. plastic to metal.
The only thing that bugs me about them is the part may differ quite abit from the oem part and sometimes makes you 2nd guess if you got the right part. Couple times i've had to go on there website and check the part number that was sent to me.
I read in the past dorman had issues with the vc gaskets and harnesses. That has been a few years though, I've been running the dorman vc gaskets and harnesses for over a year now with no issues.
Napa in Pleasanton on Stanley is where I buy most of my parts. They can get you Motorcraft if that is what you want. They also carry Amsoil now and can order Redline oil products if thats what you want. Otherwise partsguyed.com for Ford / Motorcraft parts is a sponsor here. Stay away from Monument unless its a dire emergency. I'm sure Rock Auto is a good source also. I try to stay away Dorman parts (Monument) if possible.
A person can save a few bucks at Rock Auto when he has the time to wait for the parts. I had Dorman Gaskets and under valve cover looms on my truck and in less then two years the insulation was going bad and all the related problems started up again. This time I went with Fel-Pro gaskets and Ford harnesses, price was not for the faint of heart but I hope to be done fooling with them for a few years?.
