Help,Need Some Advice On An Excursion

A very good friend of mine found a 2005 Ex diesel for sale with only 40,000 one owner miles on it.
It looks nice, kept in a heated garage and runs decent.
We'd like to know ASAP what if any problem areas there are to look for,or to be prepared for in the future? He'll be towing about 6000 pounds with his wife and 3 kids in the truck and doesn't need any problems.
Thanks in advance,
Larry

I am sure all the 6.0 diesel experts will weigh in with all the bug-a-boos with that engine. But beyond the engine issue, the Ex is a wonderful towing vehicle.

This link is 7.3 PSD specific, but much of the non-engine stuff remains the same- https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...questions.html

The 6.0 forum may have a similar link for their engine's concerns. Definitely get an OASIS report and find out what repairs/recalls have been done. I'm not a 6.0 owner, so hopefully some of them will chime in soon.

05 6.0 should be a good X. A extended warranty thru a local Ford dealer would be a good idea on any diesel. 40,000 mile 05 is hard to find
